Goetz Road / Railroad Canyon Road Closure
As of December 22, 2010, Goetz Road at Salt Creek just north of Newport Road is permanently closed. Under the direction of the Riverside County Transportation Department road and bridge construction is set to begin January 3, 2011. Traffic coming from the East Gate will only be able to travel Northbound on Goetz Rd towards Quail Valley / Menifee. Canyon Lake residents will have to exit the Main Gate to travel Westbound on Railroad Canyon Road. Vehicles that do not have a pass or decal will not be permitted access to drive through Canyon Lake to Railroad Canyon Road; rather they will need to go through Menifee to the new Newport Road.
The road project includes the widening of Goetz Road from Newport Road to just north of Normandy Road to four-lanes, a new four-lane bridge over Salt Creek, a new traffic signal at the intersection of Newport Road and Goetz Road and widening Newport Road to six lanes between Murrieta and Goetz Roads. Please see the City's website at www.cityofcanyonlake.com or contact the City of Canyon Lake for road project updates or questions in regard to the road project.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
