Privacy Policy

Many of our membership may not be aware that the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association has adopted a Policy of Confidentiality.  Members occasionally request information from the Association regarding other members.  The Association generally considers its information regarding individual members’ personal data, assessment accounts, alleged rule violations, Association enforcement actions, and similar to be matters between the Association and the individual member(s).  Other information may be subject to the Association’s attorney/client privilege or attorney work production.
Accordingly, the Association generally refuses to disclose such information to third parties including other members, unless the disclosure is needed for the Association’s purposes.  Examples of disclosure for Association purposed include the Association’s court filings and proceedings, lien recordation, Board, committee or staff reviews, conduct of disciplinary hearings and judgment/assessment collection.  Other disclosures may be required by law or by court order.  Member cooperation and understanding of the Association’s efforts to maintain the privacy of Association information regarding members is appreciated.
It is the hope of the Planning and Compliance Department that Canyon Lake remains a desirable place to live.  Our inspectors work fervently to uphold the CC&Rs/Rules & Regulations that were agreed upon when becoming a member of the Association. Many times your neighbor may, indeed, be under violation of our Rules, but refusing to cooperate.  The proliferation of homeowner associations in this state has prompted a flurry of new Civil Codes, essentially tying the enforcement hands of the Association. So, while the ACC may not be divulging the nature of a neighbor’s violation, please understand that we are making ever effort allowed us to remedy the situation as quickly and painlessly as possible.
